Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned equipment and monitor/maintain vehicles for readiness.
  • Complete and monitor fire/medical reports and other documentation.
  • Participate in required training and ongoing education.

The staff of Oxford Fire and EMSare working hard to become a leader in training, staff development andretention.

We are currently acceptingapplications for one (1) full-time benefit eligible Firefighter/Paramedic(FF/P). This is a non-supervisory position which specializes in Fire-EMS rescueoperations and advanced life support emergency medical care in accordance withMassachusetts State Law and State EMS Protocols.

The FF/P will perform allfunctions in prevention and suppression of fires and/or extrications from anylife-threatening circumstances. He/she will also mitigate hazardous materialsto the extent allowed and provide other emergency/non-emergency services asdirected by senior officers.

The FF/P will maintain assignedequipment in proper operating condition as well as monitor and maintainvehicles to ensure they are in response ready condition. He/she will completeand monitor checklists, reports, forms and other fire/medical legal documentseach shift.

The FF/P will participate in therequired training classes. Oxford Fire and EMS prides itself on providing continuedhands-on training as well as electronic courses to ensure staff are bestprepared for any incident.

Some of the benefits included inthe new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), are longevity pay, four-hourcall back minimum and annual education and fitness stipend:
  • Masters - $7,800
  • Bachelors - $5,200
  • Associates - $2,600
  • Fitness - $800
Minimum Qualifications for theFirefighter/Paramedic are:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate/Completion from an accredited EMSTraining Program and Certified as a Paramedic
  • American Heart Association CPR/Defib Certification
  • Current valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Firefighter I/II Certification
  • Graduate of the Recruit or MassachusettsCall/Volunteer Firefighter programs
  • Career Firefighter/Paramedic lateral transferfrom a full-time fire department

NOTE: Per the CollectiveBargaining Agreement with IAFF Local 4634: A full-time professional academytrained firefighter who is hired by Oxford Fire-EMS as a lateral transfer maysubmit a request to the Town Manager to be granted seniority credit for vacationpurposes only. The amount of the credit to be granted, if any, will be at thesole discretion of the Town Manager and shall not exceed what an OxfordFirefighter would be eligible for based on service in Oxford.

This position is subject tomandatory Alcohol, controlled substances, physical examination, PhysicalAgility Test (PAT waived for lateral transfer), and criminal backgroundtesting.
