FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC ENTRANCE EXAM

The City of Twinsburg is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. This is a full-time classified union position.
The starting annual probationary compensation rate in 2025 is $65,793.00 annually plus benefits. The top pay range in 2025 is $91,038 annually. Wages and benefits once hired as a Firefighter/Paramedic are determined by a collective bargaining agreement. There are opportunities for overtime and longevity pay with continued employment.
Candidates must complete the National Testing Network (NTN)FireTEAM Exam by11:55 p.m. July 30th, 2025to be considered for the position. Candidates will be notified when the exam opens.To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to

Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam and complete an employment application will be placed on the City of Twinsburg’s eligibility list and invited to participate in further stages of the selection process.

- High School diploma or GED
- Additional credit: A maximum of 15% additional credit is available to those achieving a passing score of 70%. This includes: 10% credit for Military Service; 5% credit for Associates degree; 10% credit for Bachelors degree; 1% credit for Fire Safety Inspector Certification and a 1% credit for every full year of Part Time employment with Twinsburg Fire Department as stated in Civil Service rules. Documentation must be submitted at the time of application in order to qualify for additional credit.
Applicants must provide the followingat time of conditional job offer:- IMPORTANT: Applicants do not need a Certification of Firefighter’s Physical Agility to take the written test, but MUST provide proof of such Certification at time of conditional job offeras follows:
- Certification of Firefighter’s Physical Agility Test from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) or other facility that offers the same Firefighter’s Physical Agility Test - passing time of seven minutes or less. Certification must be less than twelve (12) months old at time of conditional job offer.
Minimumrequirements include:- Eighteen (18) years of age and a U.S. Citizen;
- Valid Ohio Drivers License and a good driving history;
- No Felony, Domestic Violence or Sex Crime Convictions;
- No Crimes against a person or Property Crimes within five (5) years;
- No Minor Misdemeanor Crimes within one (1) year (excluding traffic);
- Must pass a Civil Service Entrance Examination followed by interviews and a background check.
- Applicants who receive a conditional job offer must meet all medical and physical requirements required by the Twinsburg Civil Service Commission and the Twinsburg Fire Department including a pre-employment drug screen (which includes marijuana/THC) and medical and psychological assessments.
- Current State of Ohio Firefighter II Certification and Paramedic Certification at time of appointment.
Working Conditions:Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, grasp, handle or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear and smell, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work with bright, flashing lights.
Employee will be exposed to hazards, including, but not limited to, toxic agents, smoke, bodily fluids, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, and odors. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Working conditions are typically quiet but may be loud at an emergency scene. Must be able to work varied shifts, hours, and locations, including weekends and holidays.
