Job summary

Town of Wayland Fire Department is seeking a Firefighter/Paramedic to join our team. This full-time role handles fire suppression, education, advanced EMS care, and rescue operations on rotating 24-hour shifts. Additional compensation is offered for education, with paid vacation, personal, sick time and overtime.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and EMT-Paramedic license with MA driver’s license. Preference given to fire service experience and fire science coursework.

Salary: $82,538 to $89,515 (including EMT-P stipend)

Job Summary

The Town of Wayland Fire Department seeks motivated candidates to join our team as a Firefighter/Paramedic. This full-time position is responsible for fire suppression, fire prevention and education, advanced life support emergency medical care, rescue operations, and other non-emergency duties. The schedule of work is rotating 24-hour shifts that result in an average 42-hour workweek over an eight-week cycle. The Wayland Fire Department offers additional compensation for education, as well as paid vacation, personal, sick time and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma. A degree or courses in fire service related subjects are highly desirable. A fire science degree is preferred.
• Experience as a call firefighter, medical technician or dispatcher working in a fire-emergency service environment is preferred.
• Licenses/Certificates: Valid Massachusetts Emergency Medical Technician’s Paramedic License & Valid Massachusetts driver’s license until date of hire.
