The Lane Fire Authority seeks a Firefighter/Paramedic to ensure safety through firefighting and emergency medical services in Eugene, Oregon. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, maintaining equipment, and community education. Candidates must have relevant certifications and a commitment to public safety.
The primary purpose of this classification is to ensure the safety of individuals and property through firefighting and emergency medical services (EMS), often in physically demanding conditions. Firefighters participate in supervised drills and training to enhance their skills, maintain equipment and facilities, and engage in public education on fire safety.
Firefighters typically operate within the fire station and at fire scenes under supervision, following established procedures. They may temporarily assume higher-ranking responsibilities and are often assigned additional duties based on departmental needs. They work under the supervision of a Lieutenant and are equipped with paramedic-level EMS licensure to provide immediate medical assistance. Firefighter/Paramedics frequently operate on ALS transporting ambulances and are assigned to medic units.
This is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act, subject to overtime regulations.
Applicants interested in both firefighter/paramedic and paramedic roles should submit both applications; testing will be combined, and scores used for both lists.
