The City of Hickory seeks a Firefighter II/Relief Driver to protect lives and property on a 24/72 shift. This role may substitute as operator of multiple emergency vehicles and serve as fill-in company officer when needed.

Responsibilities include fire suppression, vehicle extrication, rescue operations, and EMT-level medical care, with required NFPA and NC Fire & Rescue credentials. Subject to safety-sensitive policies and testing timelines.

Formación

• Meet the requirements for Firefighter I/Driver Trainee.
• Successful completion of the HFD Relief Driver Exam.
• Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with high school education.
• Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission.

Responsabilidades

• Responds to fires and performs fire suppression using firefighting equipment and techniques.
• Performs rescue, salvage, and overhaul operations.
• Administers EMT-level emergency medical care.
• Participates in physical fitness programs.
• Inspects assigned apparatus and equipment; performs routine maintenance.
• Performs vehicle extrication and assists in training, drills, and mock disasters.
