Job summary

The Firefighter I position at the Arkansas Department of Military supports the firefighting team by performing essential tasks to maintain readiness and response effectiveness. The role requires rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a 24-hour on/48-hour off schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass physical fitness exams and background checks.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license acceptable for emergency services transportation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare firefighting equipment and carry supplies at scene.
• Assist firefighters during emergencies under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of firefighting tools and PPE.
• Manage inventory and records of equipment inspections and fuel logs.
• Participate in ongoing training, drills, and fitness programs.
