Effingham County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Firefighter to operate fire apparatus, respond to emergencies, and maintain equipment at the Springfield, GA fire station. The role requires a high school diploma and Georgia driver’s license with progress toward state fire and EMS certifications.
Applicants must meet legal age requirements, clear background checks, and obtain necessary certifications within specified timelines.
Under general supervision: operates fire trucks, pumpers, hoses, and extinguishers during fire suppressions and/or rescue operations; tests and maintains fire detection and suppression equipment; inspects and prepares fire pre-plans for buildings, grounds, and facilities; maintains fire station buildings, facilities and apparatus; responds to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property; participates in training, drill and independent study activities; conducts fire safety education classes; performs various staff support assignments; and performs related work as assigned.
