Job summary

Eddy County, New Mexico is seeking a Firefighter/EMT-uncertified. The candidate must pass an NFPA 1583 physical annually, complete a rigorous fire academy, and obtain HazMat Ops, Firefighter I & II, NWCG S-130/190/L-180, all NIMS certifications, driver operator, basic EMS, and CPR before certification as a firefighter.

The position is 48 hours on duty/96 hours on duty scheduled, with potential 40-hour weeks during training.

Qualifications

• NFPA 1583 physical annually
• Fire academy and required certifications (HazMat Ops, Firefighter I & II, NWCG S-130/190/L-180, all NIMS certs, driver operator, basic EMS, CPR)

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies as part of on-shift duties.
• Complete apparatus and facility checks and keep equipment stocked and maintained.
• Continue training and perform other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.
