Job summary

The City of Joplin, MO Fire Department is seeking a Firefighter/EMT to join a 107-member team delivering fire suppression, medical care, airport response, and community safety services.

You will train regularly, respond to residential and commercial fires and EMS calls, perform rescues, and participate in equipment maintenance and station duties to keep operations ready.

Responsibilities

• Performs fire suppression activities at the scene, deploys hose lines, operates nozzles, raises ladders, and handles equipment.
• Participates in training to maintain and improve fire suppression, EMS skills, and physical conditioning.
• Performs emergency rescue activities at fires, accidents, medical scenes, and other incidents.
• Administers emergency medical care at the appropriate level.
• Maintains and repairs fire station, apparatus, and equipment.

Essential Firefighter/EMT Job Functions

1. Performs a variety of fire suppression activities at the fire scene including deploying hose lines, operating nozzles, directing water streams, and raising and climbing ladders; utilizes a variety of hand and power equipment.
2. Participates in a variety of training activities to maintain and improve the level of fire suppression, emergency medical skills, and physical conditioning.
3. Performs a variety of emergency rescue activities at fire, accident, medical, or other emergency scenes.
4. Administers emergency medical care at the appropriate level.
5. Performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks necessary to keep the fire station, apparatus, and related equipment clean, stored properly, fully functional and operating safely.
