Job summary

The Elon Fire Department is seeking dedicated firefighters to join our team. You will respond to fires, medical emergencies, and rescue incidents, operate fire apparatus, and participate in ongoing training to maintain readiness.

You will help with fire prevention programs, inspections, and community education, all while upholding safety standards. Applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and hold or be willing to obtain NC Firefighter and Hazardous Materials certifications,

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or GED equivalency.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• NC Hazardous Material Operations Certification and NC Firefighter Certification.
• Emergency Medical Technician – Basic required; EVDriver cert preferred.
• NIMS 100/200/700/800 training.
• Class B Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, EMS, rescue, hazmat and vehicle operation calls.
• Drive apparatus to incident scenes and operate firefighting equipment.
• Participate in training, drills, and pre-incident planning.
• Inspect and maintain apparatus, hoses and safety gear.
• Conduct school programs and fire prevention activities.
• Assist in residential and commercial fire prevention inspections.
• Maintain knowledge of hydrant locations and water supply strategies.
