Job summary

Town of Bernalillo Fire Department seeks a Firefighter to perform fire suppression, EMS, life support, and rescue duties. Requires maintaining NF certifications and licensure as a Firefighter and EMT. Includes educational outreach and equipment maintenance responsibilities.

Under supervision of the shift Lieutenant, you will participate in emergency response operations, comply with safety standards, and contribute to ongoing training and skill development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current, Valid New Mexico Class E or Commercial Class A/B Driver’s license.
• IFSAC Firefighter II certification.
• New Mexico EMT License (Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic).
• Wildland Firefighter (S-130/190, L-180) certification.
• NIMS Incident Command (IS 100, IS 200, IS 700 and IS 800).
• 1 year or more of structural operations fire service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protects citizens during emergencies.
• Extinguishes fires.
• Executes rescues.
• Mitigates chemical spills.
• Prepares citizens to prevent fire damage by developing and conducting educational and training programs.
• Ensures availability of water at fire scene by testing hydrants, expediting repairs, and verifying repairs.
