Job summary

Town of Harrisburg, NC is seeking Firefighter EMTs to join our Fire Department and work on a 24-hour shift schedule. You will serve as a first responder EMT-B, participate in fire education, prevention, pre-incident planning, and training, and help maintain facilities and apparatus.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, NC Firefighter I/II, a valid NC Class B driver's license, and NC EMT-Basic, Rescue, and HazMat certifications. A sign-on bonus is available upon hire.

What We Need

The Town of Harrisburg is currently seeking Firefighter EMTs to join our Fire Department. Employees work on a 24-hour shift and participate as part of a team in the maintenance of facilities, equipment, and apparatus at a fire station. Employees serve as first responder Emergency Medical Technician - Basic for calls in the Town of Harrisburg and Harrisburg Fire District. Employees participate in fire education and prevention activities. Employees also participate in pre-incident planning, maintenance of records, and training programs. Work requires that the employee stay abreast of state-of-the-art fire suppression and rescue procedures, techniques, and equipment and requires the employee to incorporate the necessary changes into in-service training. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through observation, conferences, and written reports concerning the quality and effectiveness of work completed.

Desireable Candidate

We are looking for individuals with knowledge of in the areas of fire science, hazardous materials response and handling, rescue operations, emergency medical response procedures, hydraulics, mechanics, pre-fire planning, and construction. Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by completion of courses and seminars in fire service; or an equivalent combination of experience and education required. Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Special Requirements

Complete Harrisburg Fire Department Recruit Training Program.

Possession of a valid class B North Carolina driver's license.

Possession of or ability to obtain within department required time frames NC Firefighter I/ II.

North Carolina EMT - Basic, Rescue, and Hazardous Materials certifications.

The salary range is $50,950 - $63,688 and starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and prior experience. Will also be eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus upon hire.
