Job summary

The City of Midwest City is hiring a Firefighter in the Fire Department. Under the direct supervision of a Captain, you will fight fires, provide emergency medical services, and respond to other emergency incidents to save lives and property.

You will perform related prevention, education, and support activities, and participate in training. EMT-B certification and a valid Oklahoma driver's license are prerequisites, with tests required before start date.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver license and be insurable.
• Must meet state pension requirements.
• Must pass written and physical exams.
• Must possess EMT-B prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Responds to alarms and calls, operates firefighting and emergency equipment, and protects life and property.
• Rides fire truck, lays and connects hoses to hydrants.
• Directs fire streams and extinguishes fires in various settings including homes and buildings.
• Performs rescue and medical assistance duties and removes victims from dangerous situations.
• Administers first aid as required.
