Job summary

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter in the Fire Department. In this role, under the supervision of a Captain, you will fight fires, provide emergency medical services, and respond to a wide range of emergencies to save lives and protect property.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and EMT-B certification prior to start date, with a valid Oklahoma driver license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must possess EMT-B prior to start date.
Must pass written and physical exams.
Must possess valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable.
Background check and polygraph required.

Responsibilities

Responds to all alarms and calls, operates firefighting and emergency equipment.
Rides fire truck and lays/ connects hoses to hydrants.
Extinguishes fires in various settings and directs fire streams.
Performs rescue and medical assistance duties and administers first aid.
Acts as vehicle driver as needed and coordinates with supervisor.
Maintains firefighting apparatus and equipment; reports failures.
Participates in training, pre-planning, and safety programs.
Supports public education and fire prevention activities.
