Job summary

City of Albuquerque is offering a Firefighter 3/C (cadet) training track through the Albuquerque Fire Rescue Training Division. Cadets will be trained toward Firefighter II certification and EMT licensure with state-backed academies.

Entry incentives apply for certified paramedics upon graduation, with a safety-sensitive work environment and strict testing protocols. First-year salary starts at $39,211.04, rising in subsequent years to $49,389.76 and $62,258.56, with EMT-B/Paramedic paths

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age by academy start date.
Must be a United States citizen or legal resident.
Must possess a valid driver's license (out-of-state applicants must obtain NM license within 30 days).
Must have CPAT certificate or be willing to obtain prior to graduation.

Responsibilities

Cadet will learn policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations of City of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Fire Rescue.
Cadet will learn firefighting, EMS, and safety protocols and complete required academies.
Cadet will meet training and academic standards to complete 19/28-week Fire Academy.
Cadet will participate in selection processes including written exam, interview, medical exam, and background check.
