Job description

GS-07

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade;
  • Performing rescue operations;
  • Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards;
  • Controlling hazardous materials incidents;
  • Driving and operating firefighting vehicles;
  • Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures.
GS-06

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade;
  • Performing rescue operations;
  • Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards;
  • Controlling hazardous materials incidents;
  • Performing basic and routine medical procedures.
GS-05

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade.
  • Performing rescue operations as a team member
  • Operating pumps, foam generators, and other similar equipment.
All of the above positions require the incumbent to possess certifications

GS-07: Firefighter I and II, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technician, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NR-EMT). These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.

GS-06: Firefighter I and II, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, First Aid Provider (FAP), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.

GS-05: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations. The certifications must have been awarded by DOD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application.
