Job summary

The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking candidates for a firefighting position at the GS-04/05 level.

Applicants must show at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-03/04, and hold Firefighter I/II and Hazmat Awareness/Ops certifications. Job description

GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Proficient in operating both basic and specialized firefighting tools, such as ladders, rescue tools, and nozzles;
  • understanding fire control principles and firefighting strategies, including handling hazardous environments;
  • respond to hazardous material releases, ensuring protection of people, property, and the environment;
  • applying procedures for maintaining and inspecting firefighting vehicles and equipment;
  • and utilizing effective search and rescue techniques.
The following certification levels are the minimum qualification standard for the position. Individuals must be certified at these levels before being eligible to fill the grade and/or position.
