SUMMARY
The Wipaire/FireBoss Technical Support Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of the Wipaire and FireBoss product lines. This position also involves:
- Field support
- Training authorized installation and service networks
- Supporting engineering in product development and improvements
- Representing the company at trade shows, operator conferences, and supporting outbound sales through travel as needed
- Travel, both domestic and international, averaging around 10%, with peaks up to 50% during February-May for training, and on short notice for emergencies or urgent support. Overtime may be required.
- Performing general office duties such as documenting procedures, engineering change requests, and record keeping.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- General mechanic/maintenance support
- Serve as the technical point-of-contact for Wipaire product installations
- Oversee crews during offsite installation and maintenance events
- Ensure quality control steps are followed by Wipaire QA
- Complete associated logbook paperwork
- Mechanic / Maintenance training
- Create and maintain training syllabi and materials
- Organize and schedule training sessions
- Conduct training for Wipaire mechanics, Service Center mechanics, and other customer mechanics
- Evaluate students based on FAR requirements and performance
- Mentor and set professional standards
- Technical support
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, etc.
- Collaborate with support teams to resolve customer issues
- Travel to customer sites for field support as needed
Education, Experience, and Credentials
- Minimum of four to ten years' experience as a general aviation aircraft mechanic
- Experience working on FireBoss aircraft
- FAA Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) Certificate required; IA designation preferred
- Two-year technical or trade school degree
- Ability to communicate in other languages, specifically Spanish, is a plus but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and parts replacement
- Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal, structural modifications, electrical theory, and FAA certification processes
- Proficiency with aircraft tools and equipment
- Ability to plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules
- Compliance with FAA safety and regulatory standards
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems creatively
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Strong customer service skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform extended periods of physical activity
- Effective verbal communication skills in English
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, and to obtain a US passport
- All required tools as per Wipaire's list within 90 days of employment
- Compliance with drug testing regulations

This hourly, non-exempt position offers a pay range of $24.70 to $45.03 per hour, based on skills and experience.
