Job summary

State of Florida’s Department of Law Enforcement seeks an Operations Analyst II to review criminal history records for firearm eligibility. You will train internal and external customers, monitor transactions for discrepancies, and lead analysis when needed, ensuring data security within department systems.

You must maintain NCIC/FCIC certifications and follow state and federal laws while maximizing productivity and quality in firearm purchase operations.

Qualifications

• NCIC/FCIC certification required and maintained.
• Experience analyzing criminal history information for firearm eligibility.
• Ability to train internal and external customers on program processes.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and processing requests in the Firearm Eligibility System (FES) queue from licensed firearm dealers to screen potential buyers’ eligibility to purchase a firearm by analyzing criminal justice information.
• Evaluating requests by analyzing criminal justice information in FES in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner and processing transactions in accordance with state and federal law.
• Submitting transactions requiring research through Computerized Criminal History (CCH) workflow.
• Analyzing and making recommendations to resolve issues and problems within the Section/Bureau/Division.
• Assisting with the Bureau's statistical duties by preparing and updating written reports, charts, letters, memoranda, procedural manuals, and other documentation in accordance with Department/other guidelines.
• Providing quality assurance on completed firearm related transactions, utilizing methodology for identifying and reporting discrepancies caused by internal or external means.
• Taking practical action to correct discrepancies or escalating them as necessary.
• Acting as a lead analyst on transactions, consulting with leadership to resolve difficult, unusual, or questionable transactions or as required by policy and procedure; and
• Evaluating workflow cases to ensure quality control of information submitted through CCH workflow.
