Job summary

American River College seeks a Fire Technology faculty member to coordinate instructional programs and teach assigned courses under the area dean. You will help students reach mastery, assess outcomes, and stay current in fire service education while contributing to articulation and curriculum development.

You will support accreditation and advisory committees, participate in governance, and engage in program reviews and annual planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience; or an associate degree with six years of professional experience; all degrees from an accredited institution.
  • All degrees must be completed by January 1, 2027.
  • California Fire Fighter 1 and Fire Fighter 2 certifications required.

  • Ability to align with state standards and SRPSTC programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Dean/Associate Dean in developing, evaluating and implementing the Fire Technology and SRPSTC training programs.
  • Adhering to the standards of the Office of the State Fire Marshal, California State Fire Training.
  • Program and course planning, organizing, scheduling, certification, and testing procedures.
  • Articulation development, curriculum revision, and improving curricula.
  • Maintaining program documentation and preparing CTE reports.
  • Administering program budgets, equipment and supplies, forecasting department needs and setting goals.
  • Preparing Perkins and Strong Workforce reporting and coordinating ARTP certifications.
  • Supporting instructional quality and compliance with state regulatory agencies.
  • Developing a robust Fire Technology Advisory Committee for industry relevance.
  • Participating in hiring committees and onboarding new Fire Technology faculty.
  • Representing the Fire Technology program at campus and community events.
  • Aligning with Los Rios policy and mission to transform the future through inclusive education.
