Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join their growing installation team in Austin, TX. This role is responsible for the installation, programming, testing, commissioning, and turnover of commercial fire alarm systems across active and upcoming projects.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise with commercial fire alarm systems and can work independently with minimal supervision. Experience supporting commercial security installations, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems, is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, program, test, and commission commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, risers, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and identify installation deficiencies.
  • Conduct system testing, inspections, and signal verification.
  • Complete project punch lists and ensure systems are fully operational prior to turnover.
  • Train customers and end users on system functionality and operation.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and installation records.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site personnel, and customers to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Maintain vehicle inventory, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Support system upgrades, expansions, modifications, and service-related activities as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and code compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of commercial fire alarm installation experience.
  • Experience with programming, testing, and commissioning fire alarm systems.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA codes and fire alarm installation standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work in construction and client-facing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with commercial security systems including access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems.
  • Manufacturer certifications or hands-on experience with:
    • EST
    • Silent Knight
    • Potter
    • Fire-Lite
  • Experience with any of the following security platforms:
    • Brivo
    • DMP
    • Avigilon
    • Genetec
    • Hanwha
    • Eagle Eye
    • OpenEye
  • NICET certification (preferred but not required).
