Job summary

Ahern, a leading mechanical and fire protection contractor based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Fire Systems Technician - Service (Fire Alarm Technician) to inspect, service, and commission existing systems in our Chicago area projects. You will work under a Superintendent, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge.

• NICET Certification Level II or higher preferred.
• VESDA Certification a plus.

How you will contribute:

Under the guidance of a Superintendent, the Service Fire Systems Technician is responsible for the inspection, service, and commissioning of existing fire alarm and special hazards fire suppression systems while ensuring the work is performed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule parameters. You will demonstrate your top-notch customer service skills by interacting with customers on a daily basis and leaving them with the satisfaction of knowing they can count on Ahern for their future needs.

What you need to qualify:

• 3+ years of inspection and service experience or equivalent education and experience.
• NICET Certification Level II and above is preferred.
• VESDA Certification is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• A commitment to maintaining cutting-edge industry knowledge.
• Ability to execute tasks with a great amount of detail.
