Job summary

University of Utah seeks a Fire Systems Technician I, II, or III to support inspection, testing, and maintenance of campus fire protection and life-safety systems. Level I requires minimal experience; Level II requires 1–3 years; Level III requires 3+ years and NICET I–II certification.

Must have a valid driver’s license, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and be able to work Monday–Friday 7:30am–4:00pm with on-call event support.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent; 2 years related fire protection experience may substitute for education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC and state Fire Prevention Rules; valid driver’s license.
• NICET certification or equivalent within six months of employment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspections of fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and testing; replace basic components.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and assist with emergency response as needed.
