Job summary

Johnson Controls in Louisville, KY is seeking a Shop Technician to perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers in a fixed-location shop environment with no travel. You will help keep equipment ready for use, maintain accurate service records, and support a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Responsibilities include recharge and testing, six- and twelve-year maintenance, completing reports and paperwork, and ensuring PPE compliance. On-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication for records and reports.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

Role Overview

As a Shop Technician, you will perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers in a fixed-location shop environment with no travel required. You will help keep equipment ready for use, maintain accurate service records, and support a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Key Responsibilities

Perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers, including recharging, testing, and six- and twelve-year maintenance work. Accurately complete reports, inspection tags, paperwork, and maintenance records for extinguisher service activities. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on extinguisher shop test equipment. Maintain the organization, operation, and cleanliness of the work area. Use hand tools safely and complete repetitive production tasks, including lifting, sliding, and general extinguisher handling. Wear all minimum PPE required by Johnson Controls, as well as specialized PPE when needed for specific work situations. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at work. Complete required employment paperwork, such as timecards, in a timely and professional manner. Participate in periodic Johnson Controls business meetings and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the business. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience is not required; on-the-job training is provided. Ability to operate hand tools and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform repetitive motions, including lifting, sliding, and general production work. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Ability to pass a required licensing test. Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and BMV check. Comfort working in a shop environment and maintaining accurate records.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE

$19-$24 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
