Job summary

JM Electronic Engineering Inc. is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician / Fitter (RME-I Required) in San Antonio, TX. The role involves installing and maintaining sprinkler systems, reading installation drawings, and ensuring code compliance.

An apprenticeship path, OSHA 10-T training, and development of NFPA 13 knowledge are emphasized. You will perform piping installation, underground work, and system testing.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid RME-I license.
  • 2 years minimum experience in fire sprinkler fitting, inspection and/or service.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; strong listening and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Dependability and integrity in all work.

Responsibilities

  • Install overhead steel piping (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pump, standpipe, and hose systems) and residential piping (CPVC, copper).
  • Install and service underground pipes and system riser components; manage valves and backflow devices.
  • Cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe; assemble and secure piping with brackets, clamps, welding, brazing, or cementing.
  • Inspect, test, and ensure code-compliant installations using gauges and hydrostatic testing.

What You Can Expect to Accomplish in Your First Year:

Key Responsibilities:
  • System Installation: Install overhead steel piping (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pump, standpipe, and hose systems) as well as residential systems (CPVC and copper).
  • Underground & Valves: Install and service underground pipes (private fire mains, hydrants, pits, control valves) and system riser components (alarm valves, dry pipe valves, backflow preventers).
  • Fabrication & Assembly: Cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe to exact specifications. Assemble and secure pipes and fixtures using brackets, clamps, welding, brazing, or cementing.
  • Testing & Inspection: Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and visual observations to ensure full code compliance.
