Job summary

Harvard University Central Administration is seeking a skilled Fire Protection Technician to maintain and service water-based fire suppression systems across Harvard facilities. The role requires reading mechanical plans, performing installations, and ensuring compliance with NFPA, Life Safety, and local codes.

The position is term-based with a 40-hour workweek, on-site at Harvard facilities, and may involve overtime in support of group needs.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience in installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all types of water-based fire suppression systems.
• Current State Journeyman or higher Sprinkler license (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Installs, modifies, inspects and tests all types of water-based fire suppression systems and associated equipment.
• Fabricates, installs, modifies and repairs piping systems.
• Installs and repairs flow control valves, fire pumps and sprinkler devices.
• Interprets and updates mechanical plans, drawings and prints as necessary.
• Assist in inspection and testing of other fire safety systems including fire alarms, extinguishers, hydrants.
• Provides responsive customer support in all phases of building maintenance and operations.
