Job summary

Guardian Fire Protection Services, LLC is hiring an Apprentice for the Fire Sprinkler division in Rockville, MD. This entry-level role offers hands-on training to become a licensed Fire Sprinkler Technician.

We provide comprehensive safety training, exposure to NFPA standards, and opportunities to advance within a growing company dedicated to life safety solutions.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with 3 or fewer points.
  • Three years of licensed driving experience.
  • Experience using hand tools such as channel locks and pipe wrenches.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in service, repair, inspections, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Support technicians with inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of various sprinkler systems.
  • Learn and follow NFPA standards, local codes, and safety procedures.
  • Perform basic pipe fitting, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembly under supervision.
  • Assist with loading/unloading and transporting tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at customer locations and company facilities.
  • Complete required training programs and safety certifications.
  • Accurately document work performed and assist with service reports.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements.

About the Opportunity

Guardian Fire Protection is currently hiring Apprentice for the Fire Sprinkler division. This is a great opportunity to learn a growing and in demand and essential trade. Guardian will train you to become a licensed, certified Fire Sprinkler Technician.

We are looking for hard working and hands‑on individuals that want to learn a new trade in the fire protection industry. The fire protection industry is in high demand and it can be a long term career that can provide a well paying income with training, certification and years of quality hard work.

Compensation
  • This is an Hourly position and the pay rate is contingent on experience and background. It will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Potential Quarterly Bonuses
  • All hours worked between 6 pm and 5 am, paid at the time and half rate for every day of the week
Job Duties
  • Assist in the service, repair, inspections, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Support technicians with inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of wet, dry, pre‑action, deluge, and standpipe systems.
  • Learn and follow NFPA standards, local codes, and company safety procedures.
  • Perform basic pipe fitting, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembly tasks under supervision.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at customer locations and company facilities.
  • Complete required training programs and safety certifications.
  • Accurately document work performed and assist with service reports.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements.
Qualifications

  • Experience using a variety of hand tools such as channel locks and pipe wrenches.
  • Willing to work varied hours, nights, early morning and weekend shift when needed.
  • Capable and willing to learn and study about the different fire sprinkler systems in order to pass tests and become certified.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders 6 to 12ft and on lifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs
  • Ability to work overhead and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
  • Skills to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
  • Skills to write well and be very detailed in your write up on service work.
  • Must be well organized and be able to keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service performed.
