Fire Sprinkler Technician

The successful Fire Sprinkler Technician must be dependable and mechanically inclined in laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining fire sprinkler piping.

The function of the Fire Sprinkler Technician is to provide reliable, consistent, high-quality customer support through on-site service, inspecting, testing, and accurate documentation of fire protection equipment. The technician should be self-motivated, customer service-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Systems.

Responsibilities:
  1. Install fire sprinkler systems, pipe systems, and valves
  2. Cut, thread, assemble, and bond piping and tubes according to specifications
  3. Modify, clean, and maintain fire sprinkler, pipe systems, units, and fittings
  4. Remove and replace worn components
  5. Calculate material measurements to verify specifications
  6. Mentor and coach fire sprinkler helpers on proper repair and service techniques
Requirements:
  1. Advanced technical school training or related work experience preferred
  2. Basic knowledge of hand tools, including electric and battery-powered equipment
  3. Proficient in basic computer skills
  4. Demonstrate problem-solving skills
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  6. Must be able to lift 10-50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  7. May be exposed to temperature changes, small spaces, and confined spaces
  8. High school diploma or GED
  9. Must be in good physical condition with no limitations
  10. Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather
  11. Must be able to carry 50 pounds repeatedly
  12. Must be able to push and pull greater than 100 pounds as needed
  13. Must be able to safely climb ladders and reach heights of at least 12-24 ft.
What makes you stand out:
  1. One or more years’ experience inspecting fire sprinkler systems
  2. Working knowledge of backflow inspections, troubleshooting, and report documentation
  3. Experience in Fire Extinguisher inspection procedures
  4. Experience in Fire Pump procedures and flow testing
  5. Enthusiasm for technology and process improvement
  6. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
