Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Technician to service and repair sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial applications. You will handle service calls, diagnose issues, and perform repairs using blueprints and manuals, while delivering strong customer service and ensuring safety compliance.

The role requires 2+ years in the fire sprinkler field, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in the Fire Sprinkler industry, servicing and repairing sprinkler and suppression systems.
  • Maintain licenses as required by National, State and Local codes.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of carrying up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to climb ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings.
  • Follow safety requirements of the company and customer.

  • Diagnose and repair sprinkler systems per prescribed procedures and manuals.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and specs to guide repairs.

What you will do

Receive service calls from Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions. Contact customer representative and ascertain equipment/systems problems. Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial applications. These include but are not limited to wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge and fire pumps.

How you will do it
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. in order to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Must have the ability to work alone.
What we look for
Required
  • 2+ years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler and Suppression systems
  • Retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.
  • Must maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs
  • Must adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Must be able to follow, read and understand all safety requirement of the company and the customer
Preferred
  • NICET Level II certification is a plus

Pay Range: hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are providedthrough a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
