Job summary

Century Fire Protection in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a skilled technician for full-time service and repair of fire sprinkler piping and related systems. The role covers wet and dry sprinkler work, OS&Y valve maintenance, and pressure testing, with occasional after-hours calls.

A GED or high school diploma with 2–3 years of experience is expected, plus pre-employment screening. Experience reading installation plans is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2–3 years related experience.
• Pre-employment drug screen and clean MVR.
• Experience reading fire sprinkler installation plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair wet sprinkler systems including piping, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads.
• Service and repair dry sprinkler systems including piping, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads.
• Install repacking kits on OS&Y valves and secure valves.
• Work with metal and plastic piping (PVC/CPVC) as needed.
• Test systems for leaks using gauges and pressure observations.
• Operate and maintain tools for securing pipes to structures and supports.
• Respond to emergency service and repair calls beyond normal hours.

Summary

Responsible service and repair of fire sprinkler piping and piping systems, fixtures, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Service and repair of wet fire sprinkler systems including the associated pipe, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads.
• Service and repair of dry fire sprinkler systems including the associated pipe, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads.
• Responsible for OS&Y valves, including the installation of a repacking kit.
• Working with metal and plastic (such as PVC and CPVC) pipe.
• Service and repair of air compressors and associated controls.
• Service and repair of fire pumps and associated controls.
• Securing pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools.
• Testing piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges.
• Adhering to safety procedures.
• Regularly working extended business hours or hours outside of normal business hours, such as late at night, early in the morning, and weekends.
• Regularly accepting and working emergency service and repair calls from the dispatcher outside of normal business hours including late at night, early in the morning, and weekends.

Additional Requirements

• Pre‑employment drug screen.
• Clean MVR.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2–3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with anti‑freeze loops and pre‑action systems a plus.
• Experience reading and interpreting fire sprinkler installation plans preferred.
