Job summary

Metro Fire + Security is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to service, repair, and replace fire sprinkler systems. This role requires inspecting systems to NFPA 25 standards, performing repairs and upgrades, and coordinating with a team to ensure safety and reliability for customers across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate will have a Texas General Inspector (RME-I) or NICET II, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills preferred.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform NFPA 25 inspections for various types of customers.
  • Perform fire sprinkler system repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Test and maintain fire pumps and hydrants.
  • Complete and file accurate service tickets and reports.
  • Stay current with fire codes and industry changes.
  • Attend required safety training.

The Fire Sprinkler Service Technician is primarily responsible for servicing, repairing, and replacing fire sprinkler products and repairing fire sprinkler systems to the prescribed standards, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service ticket reports. A desired candidate performs the full job despite site and weather conditions, can work with little supervision, has professional communication skills, and is consistently looking out for the customer’s best interest.

Responsibilities
  • Perform NFPA 25 inspections for various types of customers
  • Perform fire sprinkler system repairs, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Testing and perform maintenance on fire pumps
  • Flow testing and perform maintenance on fire hydrants
  • Work with other technicians to complete various inspections
  • Perform repairs, service work, TI work, new installation work
  • Keep tools and equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, etc.
  • Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate and detailed
  • Invoice paperwork in a timely manner
  • Stay current with code requirements and industry changes
  • Attend and complete all required training courses, including safety training

Requirements
  • Texas General Inspector (RME-I) or NICET II
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the USA
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years prior, relevant work experience
  • Able to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer needs
  • Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 100 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions – climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Able to travel to multiple job sites each day
  • Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiples times a day
  • High precision/ detail-oriented
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently, with little supervision
  • Knowledge of fire systems and tools
  • Does not take short cuts: work effectively and efficiently while performing all aspects of the required job
