Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is hiring an Inspector to perform fire sprinkler and fire alarm inspections, testing devices, and recording results. You will generate Sprinkler Inspection Reports and Certificates, and assist the Lead Inspector with data collection and paperwork.

The role requires learning NFPA standards, staying current with code changes, and delivering accurate reports. Strong communication and reliable transportation are essential for on-site work.

Qualifications

• College Degree preferred; High School diploma acceptable with related experience.
• Must study NFPA standards for inspection and testing of fire protection systems.
• Punctual and reliable; good written and verbal communication; customer oriented.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire sprinkler and fire alarm inspections and testing.
• Record results and generate Sprinkler Inspection Reports and Certificates.
• Assist Lead Inspector/Inspection Manager with data collection and paperwork.
• Use test equipment (sensitivity testers, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters).
• Attend monthly team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for performing fire sprinkler and fire alarm inspections including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Duties include assisting both the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Sprinkler Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly.
• Testing of all building sprinkler control panels, devices, and functions of the sprinkler system as well as Fire Alarm systems and entering the test results into the Palm handheld device.
• Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Sprinkler Inspection Report.
• Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.
• Participate in monthly team meetings.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification: College Degree is preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience. Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, and be customer service oriented. Reliable transportation to and from the office or job site. Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.

Other Duties: Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights.
• Mostly a physically demanding role.
• Most of the daily demand is standing and walking stairs and climbing ladders.
• May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.
