Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Inspector 1 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This role performs routine inspections, testing, service, and maintenance on electrical, sprinkler or suppression life safety product lines while upholding safety and quality standards.

Expect a structured schedule, potential travel, and opportunities for growth through the Apprenticeship program. A strong candidate will have a high school diploma and NICET I certification or drive to obtain it within 12

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• NICET I certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses as required by codes.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Capable of performing physical labor including lifting 50–70 lbs.
• Flexible hours including on-call, nights, weekends, travel.

Responsibilities

• Meet customer expectations while performing quality inspections.
• Document deficiencies found during inspections.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding via devices or paper.
• Maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Assist foreman in the installation of sprinkler systems.
• Perform work in climbs and high lift equipment as needed.
• Carry/move equipment up to 70 lbs and perform physical labor.

Description

Inspectorsare responsible forconducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines

How you will do it

• Responsible for meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections

• Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection

• Professionallyrepresent the company at all times

• Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding through communicating devices, such as laptop computers, smartphones, and/or hardcopy

• Follow andmaintaina highly structured inspection schedule

• Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.

• Complete assigned inspections on time

• Perform other duties as directed

• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and be capable of performing physical labor

• Assistforemanin the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems

• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment

• Be enrolled in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program,maintainingall requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards

• Have a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly

Qualifications – External

What we look for

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• NICET Icertification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Able to obtain andretainany licensesthat are requiredby National, State and Local codes.

• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications,programsschematics and operational/product manuals.

• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.

• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.

• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficultpositionsuch as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

• Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer requirements.

• Willingto travel out of town.

• Demonstratea high levelof customer service.

• Ability to adhere to, implement, andfollow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, andan abilityto learn quickly.

• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

• Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20.10 - $27.60 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflectsthe target compensation for this role.
