Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Foreman to install and supervise NFPA-based sprinkler systems. You will read blueprints, lead installations, and coordinate with designers, PMs and GC to deliver projects on time and safely. Expect hands-on field leadership, problem-solving, and strict safety adherence across retrofit, new and tenant-improvement works.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum five years in Fire and Life Safety industry.
  • Completed Sprinkler Apprenticeship to Foreman level.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 14/20/24/25 and backflows.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints to install sprinkler piping.
  • Lead installation for new, retrofit, and tenant projects.
  • Cut, thread, and groove pipe using saws and threaders.
  • Coordinate with contractors to resolve field conflicts.
  • Manage job scheduling, progress, and safety.
  • Provide guidance to field installers and helpers.
  • Inspect and liaise with AHJ for testing and issue resolution.
  • Assess daily work, plan materials, and identify adds/moves.

Job description

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Foreman to provide installation services of all forms of fire sprinkler systems and components. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of NFPA-based fire sprinkler systems. The ability to problem-solve and communicate effectively with the Designer, Project Manager, and General Contractor is an integral part of this position.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)


  • Read and interpret blueprints to install prefabricated fire sprinkler piping.

  • Lead the installation of new, retrofits, and tenant improvement type projects.

  • Cut, thread, and groove pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws and pipe threaders.

  • Work and coordinate with various contractors and trades to resolve coordination conflicts in the field.

  • Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality and safety.

  • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other field installers and helpers.

  • Conduct inspection and interact with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for testing and to resolve any minor issues.

  • Provide onsite support to peers and customers.

  • Effectively assess the job daily, plan out future work, and identify need for materials and equipment.

  • Understand the full scope of work and identify adds, moves, or changes not included in original scope.

  • Assess assigned jobs and develop lists of deficiencies/remaining work and measures progress toward completion.

  • Interpret drawings and install sprinkler system based on BIM design.

  • Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.


What We Like About You


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the Fire and Life Safety industry.

  • Completed Sprinkler Apprenticeship program through the 4th year Foreman Course.

  • Strong working knowledge of wet, dry, and pre-action systems, as well as backflows and fire pumps.

  • Strong understanding of all sprinkler system components and how they work.

  • Willing and able to utilize electronic devices and software for completion of inspection reports and other duties.

  • Experience with installation of underground piping preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of NFPA 14, 20, 24, and 25 code requirements.

  • Ability to read and install from fire system design drawings and documentation, including system zoning.

  • Ability to use trade appropriate tools to perform daily pipe fitting duties efficiently and safely.

  • Ability to train others to use trade appropriate tools efficiently and safely.

  • Certified in backflow inspection and repair preferred.

  • State required certifications.

  • Job or site-specific equipment certifications as determined by the business.

  • Product specific certifications as determined by the business.

  • Ability to understand BIM design and is able to effectively navigate and install.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 Certification.

  • Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.

  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills

  • Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.

  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.

  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.

  • NICET II is nice to have.
