Job Summary

A Fire Sprinkler Fitter installs, modifies, and repairs fire sprinkler systems. Responsibilities include fitting, fabricating, and installing sprinkler pipes and components, ensuring all work complies with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install overhead sprinkler piping, standpipe systems, sprinkler system risers, and specialty fire protection systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge).
  • Assemble and install system components such as hangers, valves, fittings, backflow preventers, bells, drains, fire pumps, and water supplies per design plans.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for installation requirements.
  • Measure and cut piping materials (steel, copper, CPVC) to specified lengths using appropriate tools.
  • Coordinate with other trades (plumbers, electricians, HVAC) to ensure compatibility with building systems.
  • Test and inspect installed systems for proper operation and compliance.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions, providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Assist in training apprentices to ensure high standards of safety and professionalism.
  • Support colleagues with technical advice and support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment following safety protocols.
Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter or Helper in commercial/industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of fire sprinkler components, installation techniques, and standards (NFPA 13, local codes).
  • Proficiency with hand/power tools and pipe threading equipment.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record; willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, handle tools, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift/move heavy objects.
  • Lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in various environments, including industrial, outdoor, and confined spaces.
  • Work at heights using fall protection equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools, including cutting, grinding, and drilling tools.
