Job summary

Cosco Fire Protection is a West Coast fire sprinkler and life safety systems company specializing in installation, service and inspection of automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarms, kitchen suppression, extinguishers and related systems.

This role focuses on creating design drawings and submittal packages using AutoSprink, AutoCAD, and BIM tools, preparing permit applications, and coordinating with project teams to ensure accurate, compliant drawings and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of fire sprinkler design experience utilizing CAD or AutoSprink software.
  • Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with all basic computer skills and software applications including, but not limited to, MS Office and AutoCAD 2018 or higher.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding architectural, electrical, mechanical layouts and diagrams.
  • Basic working knowledge and understanding of fire alarm related electronics, codes and practices.
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of NFPA codes & standards.
  • Strong ability to follow directions given by supervisor to develop/design drawings.
  • Good driving record with a valid driver’s license.
  • Fire certifications a plus.
  • NICET certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Attend project turnover meetings with design supervisor, project manager and field superintendent.
  • Use AutoSprink, AutoCAD and related tools to create fire sprinkler design drawings and submittal packages within the limits of system specifications, costs and planning.
  • Prepare submittal documents and applications for permit.
  • Include all views and dimensions necessary for installation.
  • Perform BIM modeling for coordination using Navisworks and Revit.
  • Handle stock listing and purchasing of all material for projects.
  • Maintain project drawing files, associated records and documentation in an orderly condition.
  • Develop and maintain an updated library of symbols & drawings (templates) for future projects.
  • Develop spreadsheets and other tools to increase quality of drawings while decreasing time required on standard tasks.
  • Operate large plotter, scanner and reproduction equipment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
