Job summary

Davis-Ulmer Family of Companies, a part of APi Group, seeks an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our Auburn, ME team. You will perform in-house submittal review and layout of water-based systems for diverse occupancies, ensuring permit-ready deliverables and code compliance.

Responsibilities include hydraulic calculations, shop drawings, RFIs, and field coordination, while mentoring junior designers and coordinating with AHJs and GCs.

Qualifications

• NICET Level III Certification — Water-Based Systems Layout (required).
• Experience producing permit-ready sprinkler drawings and hydraulic calculations.
• Strong knowledge of sprinkler design principles and coordination with project teams.
• Proficiency with HydraCAD or equivalent software.
• Strong communication skills with internal teams, GCs, and AHJs.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review submittal drawings in-house to ensure code compliance and alignment with project specs.
• Layout/design of fire sprinkler systems for new construction, renovations, and complex occupancies.
• Read and interpret construction documents, BIM and coordination requirements.
• Produce shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, RFIs, submittals, and as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with design management, project managers, and field leadership to resolve constructability issues.
