Job Level: Experienced – Location: Ocoee, FL – Position Type: Full Time – Job Category: Design

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers Inc. operates across Florida and North Carolina. We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer in our Ocoee, FL branch.

Responsibilities

• Operate with minimal supervision and manage projects from inception to completion.
• Lay out/draw automatic sprinkler systems including underground and overhead piping, pumps, standpipes, tanks, etc. using AutoCAD2018 or later and Hydratec application.
• Produce neat and accurate drawings for field installation.
• Hydraulically calculate all projects using Hydratec calculation program to achieve cost‑effective sizing per code.
• Conduct field surveys to verify structural elements, pipe routing, and sprinkler spacing compliance.
• Schedule and attend project coordination meetings with other trades; document coordination outcomes.
• Submit drawings and related documentation to authorities (building or fire) in a timely manner to secure permits and approvals before installation.
• Follow up on submittals to ensure permits are secured prior to installation start.
• Accurately produce fabrication and purchasing stock lists, submit to Purchasing on time.
• Maintain individual job status reports and communicate workload & scheduling with supervisor.
• Assist field personnel on design‑related issues; correct working plans and complete final as‑builts.
• Maintain proper documentation using the paperless system and archive project documents during and after project closeout per WAFS policies.
• Coordinate with WAFS QA design review for timely reviews without delaying progress.
• Assist sales in procuring flow test information and necessary AutoCAD drawings as time permits.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of sprinkler design experience; field experience is a plus.
• Minimum NACE LevelI Sprinkler certification.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes and applicable Building Codes.
• Experience with AutoCAD2018 or later; REVIT experience is a plus.
• Experience with Hydratec sprinkler package.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficient use of computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Able to effectively deal with frequent schedule changes, delays and/or unexpected events.
• Ability to work in a deadline‑driven, sometimes stressful environment.
• Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test and background check, including 10 years of employment verification, is required to be hired.
