Job Summary:

A Fire Sprinkler Designer is responsible for using computer-aided design (CAD) to create detailed drawings and layouts, calculate dimensions and material requirements. The designer’s role is to assist in the creation of functional and well-designed products and structures by translating design concepts into accurate technical plans.

Work Location:

Ideally this role will be located on-site in San Diego, CA, but we will also consider qualified candidates for hybrid or US-Based remote work arrangements.

Pay Range:

$77,000 - $115,000 Annually. The posted salary range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position at the time of posting and is provided in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual starting pay will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location (where applicable), and market considerations. Not all candidates will be hired at the top of the posted range.The posted range reflects base salary only and does not include any applicable bonuses, commissions, overtime, or the value of employee benefits. Eligible employees may participate in the Company's benefit programs, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of each plan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed designs of fire sprinkler systems using specialized computer-aided design (CAD) software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform.
• Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components.
• Perform hydraulic calculations.
• Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classifications, and architectural features.
• Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades.
• Coordinate with team members for listing of required materials.
• Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements.
• Actively participate in predesign and review meetings.
• Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvement.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed in a safe and professional manner.
• Provide outstanding customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:

• High School Diploma/GED
• NICET Certification level preferred
• Minimum of 3years’ experience in fire sprinkler design
• Fire Sprinkler Design degree desired.
• Proficient use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required, HydraCAD is preferred.
• Visualizes 3D concepts and solves basic mathematic problems, including geometry and algebra.
• Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards, and in reading and interpreting construction documents.
• Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by national, state/province, and local codes.
• Experience with a variety of system types and manufacturers.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment.
• Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel as needed.
