Job summary

Johnson Controls in Irving, TX is hiring a Fire Alarm Installation Apprentice to join a team completing installation of fire protection systems, including low voltage wiring and device installation for fire alarms, access control, security, and suppression systems.

You will follow drawings, maintain tool security, and work shifts as needed; the role requires an electrical/electronics background, ability to lift up to 70 lbs, climb ladders, and pass background and drug tests.

Qualifications

• Electrical/electronics background with experience in low-voltage wiring
• Ability to perform physical labor, lifting up to 70 lbs
• Comfort with climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment
• Flexible hours and willingness to work weekends
• Commitment to safety policies and procedures
• Excellent communication and a positive attitude
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

Fire Alarm Installation Apprentice is responsible for working in a team to complete the installation, of fire protection systems including: low voltage wiring and device installation for fire alarm, access control, security and suppression systems. Apprentices are also responsible for properly securing all Johnson Controls tools and equipment at the end of each work period so as to prevent damage or loss.

• Must be comfortable working from heights.

Required

What we look for

• Electrical/electronics background. Experience with low-voltage wiring, troubleshooting, and related systems
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Excellent communication skills, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers and team members.
• Positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
• Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
• Able to obtain and retain any licenses required by National, State and Local codes.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $15-20 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
