Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• NC OSFM Certified Fire Instructor.
• OSFM Fire Instructor Qualification within one year.
• Current NC driver's license.
• Two years of OSFM Fire Instructor experience.
• Five years of fire/rescue services experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and coordinates all Fire Academy courses, training activities, and certifications offered through Continuing Education, ensuring OSFM and NCCCS compliance.
• Develops and maintains comprehensive Fire Academy schedules, training calendars, and course timelines.
• Develops, updates, and enforces the academy’s SOPs, safety protocols, and operational guidelines.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, and mentors academy instructors for quality delivery.
• Secures instructional materials, supplies, and equipment before classes.
• Maintains all program documentation and records for NCOSFM, NCCCS, and the college.
• Monitors attendance, progress, and hands-on performance of students.
• Liaises with AB Tech, NC OSFM, and local fire departments.
• Builds partnerships with local fire departments and stakeholders.
• Provides counseling and remediation coordination for students and instructors.
• Distributes class materials to instructors and students.
• Oversees classroom, lab, and field training for quality adherence.
• Enforces discipline and student conduct.
• Manages academy fitness program and physical training.
• Coordinates safety during all training activities.
• Inspects training props and PPE for safety and function.
• Ensures OSHA and safety compliance.
• Orders and inventories equipment and supplies.
• Coordinates annual maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Promotes the Academy through recruitment and outreach.
• Coordinates graduation ceremonies and recognition events.
• Contributes to College Vision, Mission, and Values.
