Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fire Safety Inspector Certification in accordance with F.S. 633.
• Valid Florida driver license.
• At least one year experience in fire code enforcement or building code enforcement.
• Experience conducting building construction inspections relating to fire code enforcement.
• One year of experience working with computers with a Windows operating system.
• Familiar with Florida Statutes 633 and Florida Administrative Code 69A governing fire prevention requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer statutory inspection activities in a multi-county area.
• Perform fire safety inspections of state-owned buildings and facilities.
• Enforce fire prevention laws and conduct comprehensive technical inspections of systems.
• Inspect and approve new construction and renovations prior to occupancy.
• Provide written reports and review construction documents for compliance.
• Conduct investigations of violations and testify as an expert witness when needed.
• Respond to inquiries and maintain prescribed records.
• Assist in training regional personnel and participate in disaster response duties.
