Job summary

Vallen USA is seeking a Tech Service Supervisor focused on Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services within our Vallen Safety Services group. You will oversee daily activities and performance for a team of service technicians to ensure the quality of work meets contracts and service level agreements.

You will train staff, ensure SOP compliance, and collaborate with customers to coordinate work requests while maintaining safety, quality, and profitability across client sites.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED as minimum education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 6+ years of applicable direct experience.
  • 5+ current certifications (manufacturer/state) in fire protection.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, initiative and team leadership.
  • Specific – RELEVANT experience: Life Safety Equipment inspection/repair, CDL may be required for transport, proficiency with hand tools, and ability to manage a team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise service technicians; interview, hire, coach, train, and discipline as needed.
  • Interface with the customer to coordinate work requests and activities.
  • Review and approve labor times reported by technicians.
  • Monitor profitability, utilization, cash flow, and key metrics.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and expand service offerings with the client.
  • Perform safety and technical audits and quality inspections.
  • Account for asset management and client facility protection.
  • Ensure proper documentation for work requests and invoicing.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and respond to emergencies if required.

Position Summary

Join our exciting & dedicated team at Vallen as a Tech Service Supervisor focused on Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services in our Vallen Safety Services group. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing daily activities and performance for a team of service technicians to ensure the quality of work provided to the customer meetsand/or exceeds Vallen's contract and the customer's service level agreement. You will also ensure assigned team membersare properly trained and are working in compliance with Vallen standard operating procedures, company policies, and customer specifications.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs staff supervisory duties for assigned team of Service Technicians; responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, training, counseling, delegating work assignments and disciplining associates while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Acts as the liaison between Vallen Safety Services and the customer; interfaces and collaborates with the customer for coordination of work requests and desired job activities.
  • Reviews and approves all labor times reported by assigned technicians.
  • Demonstrates awareness of profitability and utilization rates, cash flow, and other company metrics.
  • Continually looks for process and/or cost savings improvement opportunities at the client and collaborates with the client on desired service offerings.
  • Performs and/or oversees safety and technical audits.
  • Schedules and performs quality inspections.
  • Accountable for asset management and protection
  • Accountable for client facility protection.
  • Ensures all documentation for work requests and assignments are filled out accurately, completely and submitted for proper invoicing; ensures required copies are provided to the customer upon servicing equipment.
  • Maintains accurate inventories related to job and maintenance orders.
  • May be required to respond to emergency field calls and/or assist with parts and equipment requests in absence of a technician.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all regulatory standards i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, Manufacturer guidelines and VSS SOP's; always exhibits safe work practices.
  • Accountable for appropriately using and/or overseeing the use of various company provided assets which may include but are not limited to company vehicle, inventory, safety equipment, laptop, LSI scanner, test equipment, tools, radio, cell phone, fuel card and/or credit card.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications

    • In-depth experience inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing Life Safety Equipment.
    • Demonstrated ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
    • Current motor vehicle license with a good driving record; Commercial Driver License (CDL) required if transporting loads of hazardous materials.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with hand tools.
    • Demonstrated ability and/or competencies to manage a team successfully.
    • Demonstrated positive customer service and the ability to manage multiple customer accounts.
    • Demonstrated advanced computer skills.
    • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • May be required to complete continuing education courses as required to keep all certifications and licenses current; if applicable, may be required to pass all test requirements for approval to work offshore.
  • May have travel requirements with limited advance notice.
  • Occasionally requires long and varied hours.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environment; indoors and/or outdoors.
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions.
  • May work in hazardous environments and be required to follow safety precautions and use or wear appropriate safety equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
