Job Title: Fire Protection Inspector

The primary function of this role is to perform NFPA-based inspections of water-based fire systems and fire alarm systems. The company's goal is to grow inspection revenues while maintaining profits, satisfying customer requirements, and ensuring compliance with NFPA guidelines.

This role requires the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with a focus on customer development, quality work performance, and a thorough understanding of NFPA codes supporting each fire system. Travel to customer sites will be necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Perform basic troubleshooting of wet-based fire systems and communicate issues to owners and service managers for repairs.
  2. Conduct inspections from man lifts at heights of 30 to 40 feet, as needed.
  3. Perform annual inspections on domestic and fire backflows.
  4. Monitor and ensure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
  5. Complete and submit work tickets and inspection reports promptly.
  6. Self-schedule daily inspections.
Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Education / Work Experience:
  • Perform NFPA 25 based inspections on wet, dry, deluge, pre-action systems, and fire pumps.
  • Inspect standpipe systems and fire hydrants per NFPA 25.
  • Perform NFPA 72 based inspections on fire alarm systems, including all components, as a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or industry trade school is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection systems: wet, dry, foam, deluge, pre-action, standpipe, fire hydrants, and fire pumps.
  • Backflow license and NICET Level II in water-based or fire alarm systems are advantageous.
  • Basic mechanical skills, including troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications, including NICET.
  • Ability to lift at least 35 pounds.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
