Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for its Federal Buildings group in Arlington, VA. You will work with a team of engineers to develop and implement fire protection solutions, gaining exposure to design and production tasks across Commercial, Federal, and Mission Critical facilities.

You'll learn to use industry software, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to high-quality project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program for Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Safety Technology or closely related program
• Completion of at least two years of college coursework
• United States Citizenship

You’ll work alongside professional engineers and designers, gaining exposure to project coordination, relevant computer-assisted engineering software, data collection and so much more.

As a Fire Protection intern you will work alongside a robust staff of experienced and licensed Fire Protection Engineers to develop and use your skills and experience to deliver and complete challenging and engaging buildings projects across many different markets such as Commercial, Federal, Mission Critical, and Advanced Facilities projects in many different regions including but not limited to the United States, Asia, and the Middle East.

You will support the design and production of fire sprinkler systems, special hazards suppression systems, fire pumps, fire alarm and mass notification, and building/life safety codes analysis under the guidance of a knowledgeable team of experienced Fire Protection Engineers. Previous design experience is a plus, but we do train employees on the job to learn and develop these skills so please do not self-select yourself out of a position and all that are interested in a career in fire protection engineering are encouraged to apply.

To be successful in this posiiton you must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and exceptional interpersonal skills as you will work within a multidisciplinary team across geographies who are used to working at a fast pace while delivering high quality work product.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program for Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Safety Technology or closely related program
• Completion of at least two years of college coursework
• United States Citizenship

Ideally, you’ll also have

• 3.0 GPA
• Working knowledge of Revit and/or Autocad
• A previous internship related to Fire Protection Engineering or building mechanical systems

Salary

The base salary range for this position is $45,000.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
