Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering or MS with 3–5 years related experience.
• Strong technical background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Hands-on experience executing experimental programs.
• Hands-on experience with design, installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems (a plus).
• Experience with prescriptive/performance-based analysis and NFPA/ICC codes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate performance of fire protection, fire detection, and life safety systems.
• Review fire protection codes and standards.
• Conduct laboratory assessments of material flammability.
• Plan and execute experimental test programs.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses.
• Conduct fieldwork and report findings.
