Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Los Angeles is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join the Building Sciences and Tunnel Groups. You will design fire protection systems, perform studies, prepare contract documents, and lead junior engineers in various projects including road, rail, and underground structures.

The role requires a CA-licensed PE or the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states, along with strong knowledge of NFPA standards and building codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or equivalent engineering degree from an Accredited four-year college or university.

Responsibilities

• Design of fire protection systems using engineering calculations and preparing design drawings and specifications under the direction of senior engineers or project managers.
• Perform studies, evaluations, and preliminary fire protection designs.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, specifications and calculations.
• Lead tasks and supervise junior engineers.
• Verify accuracy of design and contract documents.
• Perform innovative fire protection design and analysis.
• Provide design services during construction including submittal and RFI review
• Support proposal development.
• Manage projects.
