Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to contribute to designs that protect lives and property on meaningful infrastructure projects. You will work on fire protection systems, access federal requirements, and collaborate across teams to deliver compliant, robust solutions.

The role supports a hybrid work model with options to base out of multiple U.S. offices. Travel up to 10% is expected as projects and client needs guide engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Approximately 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including layouts, water supply analyses, and sprinkler systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects delivering life safety and fire protection design.
• Review drafts for NFPA/UFC and state/local compliance and sign off.
• Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals and address client design needs.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and supervise engineers on projects.
