Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 0–3 years of experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact with clients.
• Interest in Fire code safety and exceeding client expectations.
• Local to Virginia Beach or willing to relocate; this is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Provide fire protection engineering services including life safety code consulting and fire protection design.
• Develop plans, specifications, and inspection reports to professional standards.
• Assist in resolving design problems with field investigations and coordination.
• Identify applicable codes and standards for inquiries.
• Conduct basic analyses (egress, fire detection, smoke control) and related hydraulic calculations.
• Apply engineering calculations for size, egress, sprinkler supply and smoke control.
• Perform fire hazard analyses and document findings.
• Communicate effectively with project team members, clients and others.
• CAD document preparation/production may be involved.
