Job Description
The Fire Protection Engineer will support facilities design, construction, and renovation projects by providing professional expertise. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with project managers and contractors.
- Assisting in developing reports and studies.
- Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Understanding and implementing standards outlined in the Program of Requirements (POR).
- Managing project design from programming to post-occupancy.
- Reviewing proposal documents and design reviews for compliance with NFPA and IBC codes.
- Inspecting facilities for fire protection and life safety deficiencies.
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert in design and construction meetings.
- Attending site surveys and testing fire and life safety systems.
- Providing on-site measurements and verification.
Requirements
- Active and maintained Secret Federal or DoD security clearance with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering.
- At least four years of experience in commercial/government office building design and construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience in both Fire Protection and Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
