Job Description

The Fire Protection Engineer will support facilities design, construction, and renovation projects by providing professional expertise. Responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinating with project managers and contractors.
  2. Assisting in developing reports and studies.
  3. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  4. Understanding and implementing standards outlined in the Program of Requirements (POR).
  5. Managing project design from programming to post-occupancy.
  6. Reviewing proposal documents and design reviews for compliance with NFPA and IBC codes.
  7. Inspecting facilities for fire protection and life safety deficiencies.
  8. Acting as Subject Matter Expert in design and construction meetings.
  9. Attending site surveys and testing fire and life safety systems.
  10. Providing on-site measurements and verification.
Requirements
  • Active and maintained Secret Federal or DoD security clearance with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering.
  • At least four years of experience in commercial/government office building design and construction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience in both Fire Protection and Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
